BEHIND THE FRAME
Uncritical acceptance of beauty standards can reinforce inequality and harm individual well-being.
Contemporary beauty standards are largely shaped by media and popular culture, particularly within digital platforms. Ideals such as fair skin, slim bodies, and specific facial features contribute to the phenomenon of beauty privilege, where individuals, especially women, receive preferential treatment in social and professional contexts. The narrative adopts a third-person perspective to reveal the contrast between public perception and private reality, highlighting the psychological impact of unrealistic expectations on self-esteem and mental well-being. The work encourages critical awareness of these systemic biases and promotes a more inclusive understanding of beauty.
